Bartleby is on a mission: We are striving to make advertising more affordable, exceptional, personal, and accessible than any other DuPage publication, to a wider variety of businesses. In other words, we plan to one-up our competition by offering a product that is nicer then our competitors, which gets wider exposure then our competitors, with salesman who are more helpful than our competitors, at a price that will make our competition sweat with anxiety and wonder how on earth they are going to stay in business when all their advertisers switch over to the Bartleby-side. Maybe they'll be forced to offer small business owners a fair value. Until then, we'll keep doing what we're doing. Come on board - we have lots to talk about.

Bartleby, Magazine for the Arts is a print venue for artists and writers in the regional northwest to gain exposure and sell their work. It is distributed throughout most of the towns in DuPage County, finding its home exclusively in doctor's offices and high-school and middle school teacher's lounges, reaching over 85,000 readers. The contact information of each featured contributor is listed in our registry so that any reader who may want to employ their services or purchase their work may do so directly from the contributor. Bartleby makes a point to encourage young writers and artists by offering a section dedicated to publishing exemplary examples of student fiction and art. Bartleby also operates as a marketplace open to any business interested in advertising with us. Bartleby is distributed throughout the cities of DuPage County. |

Bartleby, Magazine for the Arts is printed three times a year by trimester, reaching over 85,000 readers per issue, or 255,000 readers per year. Copies are distributed exclusively to doctor's offices and teacher's lounges in DuPage County. The purpose is to maximize the readership potential of each printed issue. The best areas to reach that end are the waiting rooms in doctor's offices and the teacher's lounges in high schools and middle schools. Advertisers are also supplied with issues of the magazine to provide to their customers.
Why our advertising is attractive:Bartleby, Magazine for the Arts goes to extraordinary lengths to ensure that each copy of our magazine is read by a captive audience of multiple readers. This is the sole reason why we distribute in waiting rooms, lobbies, and teacher's lounges. Magazine issues will typically remain in a waiting room for a minimum of four months, exposing each copy to hundreds of potential readers.
What “captive audience” means to you:The term “captive audience” refers to an audience that is, for one reason or another, confined to an area for an uncertain amount of time. They are “captive” in the sense that they have to stay in that waiting room until the doctor, dentist, lawyer, etc. can see them. They are an “audience” in the sense that they have nothing to do, other than to read through the magazines that may or may not be available to read. Why we can offer our advertising at such low rates:
Bartleby, Magazine for the Arts boasts some of the most inexpensive advertising prices with the widest exposure in DuPage county. To keep our prices low, we maintain a very low overhead, and a very small staff of multitalented, hard working individuals who do not require exorbitant wages. Therefore, the most expensive cost of our magazine is in its printing and distribution.
Why Bartleby, Magazine for the Arts is different:Bartleby, Magazine for the Arts is the only literature and art based magazine distributed to businesses that offers conventional, full color advertising. Because of the wide, general appeal of art and fiction, advertising is open to any prospective business, and is not confined to offer advertising to businesses related to the field which the magazine covers.
